In the late 1960’s Harry O. Sitzberger, builder and home designer, saw a need for attractive, wear resistant seamless floors in kitchens, baths, hallways and basements.  A new product showed promise…  a clear epoxy with color chips suspended in the resin providing a decorative, wear resistant surface.

The company was formed in 1968. Sitzberger experimented with epoxies and developed innovative applications to solve problems in food service establishments, farms and small businesses.

As epoxy research developed new and better products, Sitzberger’s firm found itself working with architects and major paper manufacturers.  They sought ways to effectively restore deteriorating concrete, creating surfaces capable of withstanding heavy loads, steel wheeled carts, acids and other corrosive agents.

By 1975, the Appleton, Wisconsin based firm had listed among its clients such firms as Kimberly-Clark Corp., 3M, Ralston Purina, Procter and Gamble and Swiss Colony.

In 1986, the company changed its name from Surface Coating Consultants, Inc., to Protective Coating Specialists, Inc., more fully reflecting its mission.  Consultation, application and distribution of epoxy systems today best describes the offerings of the more than a quarter of a century old firm.

Protective Coating Specialist’s team of applicators have nearly three quarters of a century of combined experience. Jobs range from millions of square feet of flooring, tank linings, food processing plants, chemical containment areas, trenches, computer component clean rooms and even swimming pool decks.

Protective Coating Specialists, Inc., represents, distributes and installs the finest industrial coatings available on the market today.  In addition, Protective Coating Specialists, Inc. has developed its own line of proprietary epoxy systems for particular applications.  The product lines are odorless, resin rich and approved by state and federal agencies for a variety of applications.
